Thank you for an amazing season of fun and safe boating on Whatcom County lakes!
Our Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) check stations closed for the season on October 10. Even though the stations are closed, you still need a current permit to launch your boat during the off-season.
Here is what you need to know for the winter and the upcoming year:
- Get a wire seal for a faster spring launch: If you are winterizing your boat, please ask our team to put on a wire seal. This secure seal proves your boat has stayed Clean, Drained, and Dry, which means you will breeze right through inspections when our stations reopen.
- Winter access and permits: The check station gates at Bloedel Donovan Park will be in operation this winter. If you have a current permit, call the number posted at the gate for a quick phone inspection. During regular work hours, staff can also meet you at the site to issue permits.
- Upcoming dates: You can purchase your 2027 permits starting January 2, 2027, and our check stations will reopen on April 24, 2027.
Need to get your boat wire sealed or buy a permit? Please call the AIS Inspection Hotline at (360) 778-7975.
Thank you for a wonderful year. We cannot wait to see you on the water for a stellar 2027!
